Devon: Medieval history walk

Take in the historic sites and sights of Teignbridge, South Devon with this gentle, meandering walk.

This route through the countryside and woods of South Devon takes in multiple historic sites and can be reached by either public transport or car. A great walk at any time of the year, in spring the route is lined with daffodils, primroses, wild cyclamen, wood anemone and celandine.

The route travels along the River Lemon through National Trust land adjacent to medieval Bradley Manor, meandering through woods and meadows and down country lanes to the tiny, perfect cruciform church at West Ogwell with its delightful churchyard. Next, continue on to the village of Denbury – with its Iron Age Hill Fort – and onto the glorious Holy Trinity Church in the hamlet of Torbryan. Here enjoy the peaceful churchyard and stunning interior of the church and take a break at the Old Church Inn opposite the church.
